Mary F. Corrigan

Mary Frances Corrigan, 82, of 11 Randall St. died yesterday at home. Born in Montague on Feb. 5, 1920, daughter of Arthur J. and Helen Firth Courteau, her family moved in 1923 to Adams, where she graduated in 1938 from the former Adams High School. She majored in education at the former North Adams State Teachers College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and received her bachelor of arts degree in 1942. She received her master's degree in education from the college in 1960. She taught at the former Renfrew, Hoosac and Liberty Street grammar schools in Adams and in the Cheshire schools. She retired in 1981 after 34 years of teaching. She was a member of St. Thomas-Notre Dame Parish, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Sancta Maria and the Adams Study Club. She was a former member of the Adams Girls' Club. Her husband, Robert B. Corrigan, whom she married Aug. 2, 1947, died April 9, 1992. She leaves a son, Craig R. Corrigan, with whom she resided. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, May 4, at 11 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, will be Friday from 4 to 7. The family suggests remembrance donations to the St. Thomas' Church General Fund, P.O. Box 231, Adams, or through the funeral home, which is in charge of arrangements.
