Mary Wiswell

Mary Wiswell, 87, of Stone Mountain, Ga., a former resident of Pittsfield, died Thursday at her daughter's home in Stone Mountain. Born in Adams on Jan. 7, 1914, daughter of Henry J. and Mary E. Leary Pecor, she was a 1932 graduate of the former Adams High School. She also graduated from the former Henry W. Bishop III Memorial School of Nursing at the House of Mercy, now Berkshire Medical Center, in 1935. She and her husband lived on Dodge Avenue in Pittsfield for many years. She worked at the House of Mercy for several years and then was a school nurse at the Berkshire Industrial School in Canaan, N.Y., for two years. She was last employed at Berkshire Place for 20 years, retiring in 1977. Her husband, Lloyd H. Wiswell, whom she married Aug. 1, 1950, died Feb. 14, 1979. She leaves a daughter, Mary Wiswell Wright of Stone Mountain, with whom she had lived since 1979. An interment service for Mary Wiswell will take place Saturday, May 11, at 10 at St. Joseph's Cemetery. The MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME of Adams is in charge of local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Atlanta Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Association, c/o the H.M. PATTERSON & SON, SPRING HILL CHAPEL, 1020 Spring St., Atlanta, which is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 9, at Spring Hill from noon until 2.
