Mildred Parkhurst

Mildred Beatrice (Herzog) Parkhurst, 95, of 142 Columbia St., Adams, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2001, at the North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Feb. 8. Born in Adams on Feb. 23, 1905, she was the daughter of Herman and Almina (Royal) Herzog. She attended schools in Adams, including the former Notre Dame Elementary School. She was a homemaker most of her life, but had worked for several years at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., Adams, and also did domestic work for several years. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams, and was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Rosary Sodality and the former St. Thomas Golden Girls group. She leaves three sons, William Parkhurst of Adams, Robert Parkhurst of Miller Place, N.Y. and Richard Parkhurst of North Adams; three daughters, Sandra Bryant of North Adams, Joyce White of Dalton and Robbin Frenier of Adams, with whom she resided; a brother, Lawrence "Bucky" Herzog of Adams; two sisters, Lucille LeSage and Rita Parrott, both of Adams; 18 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A daughter, Nancy Rondeau, died Sept. 1, 1966. Three grandchildren also are deceased -- Richard C. Parkhurst died Sept. 28, 1996; Christopher Parkhurst I died Dec. 16, 1966; and Christopher Parkhurst II died Oct. 12, 1970. Two great-grandchildren, Jacob Roberts and Joseph Roberts; four sisters, Eva Rolland, Helen Kokindo, Roma Wilson and Mabel LaCasse; and two brothers, Francis Herzog and Leo Herzog, also are deceased. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 9:15 a.m. from the Augé-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, with the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia, C.P., officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are today, Feb. 13, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas or to the Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home.
