Lawrence Mullett

Lawrence E. Mullett Sr., 72, of 251 Linden St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in North Adams on Aug. 6, 1928, son of William and Elizabeth Brown Mullett, he attended Pittsfield and New Ashford schools. He had resided in Pittsfield for 34 years. He served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Mullett was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Pittsfield Highway Department for 34 years. He also worked at one time for Kelly Lumber, Berkshire Pallet and at other area construction companies. He retired in 1990. He was assistant coach for the North Little League and served as a leader in the Pittsfield Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Pittsfield Civil Defense Communications. He leaves his wife, the former Marion Lapp, whom he married Feb. 26, 1949; five sons, Lawrence E. Mullett Jr. and Barry J. Mullett, both of Dalton, and Paul A. Mullett Sr., William D. Mullett and Scott J. Mullett, all of Pittsfield; a daughter, Mary Melanson of Savoy; 15 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Lawrence E. Mullett Sr., 72, of Pittsfield, will be held Saturday at 1 at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, conducted by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church. Burial will take place in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
