Lawrence Dupuis, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Lawrence Sawyer Dupuis, 79, of 73 Furnace St. died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at home. Born in North Adams on Dec. 25, 1922, son of Victor E. and Mary Brown Dupuis, he attended local schools. An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a private, first class, with the 67th Fighter Wing of the 8th Army Air Corps in Europe. He was awarded several medals for his service in the air offensives over Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, Central Europe and the Ardennes. Mr. Dupuis was employed for more than 34 years by Warren Wire Co. and its successor, General Cable Corp., in Williamstown. He retired in 1982. In his younger years, he was employed by the former First National grocery store on Main Street and the former Gale Shoe Co. on Brown Street. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of Dr. George Curran Post 996 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He and his wife, the former Cecilia Susan Rinaldi, would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Nov. 14. They were married in St. Anthony's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Lawrence S. Dupuis Jr. of Pownal, Vt., three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His brothers Albert and Owen Dupuis predeceased him. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral will be Saturday, July 6, at 9:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:30 at St. Patrick's Church, Southworth Street, Williamstown, by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, July 5, from 4 to 7. Memorial donations suggested for St. Anthony's Church Fund through the funeral home.
