Cecile Fontaine

Cecile Fontaine, 78, of 23 Laurel St. died Tuesday at home. Born in Highgate Springs, Vt., on March 1, 1922, daughter of John and Emma Tatro Fournier, she attended school there and in Pittsfield. Mrs. Fontaine was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of the Pittsfield Senior Center. A homemaker, she enjoyed fishing and cooking. Her husband, Ralph E. Fontaine, whom she married April 27, 1946, died May 6, 1996. She leaves three daughters, Anita R. and Lorraine M. Fontaine, both of Pittsfield, and Jeanne A. Fontaine-Berrier of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Rose Demingway of Montpelier, Vt.; two granddaughters, and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:50 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, Mass., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Church celebrated by the Rev. Earl Hebert, pastor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Hospice Care of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Fontaine is survived by her adored granddaughters, Kelly-Jean LeVardi and Jessica M. LeVardi; and her great-grandson, Mason W. Rose. Also lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews, and her son-in-law, Matt Berrier.
