Robert Montleon

Robert J. Montleon, 77, of 41 Hollister St. died Sunday at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 2, 1923, son of Joseph and Gertrude Vaughan Montleon, he was a 1942 graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnical High School. A World War II Navy veteran, he served aboard the USS Ashtabula. He later served in the Merchant Marines Reserve. He had assisted and attended many reunions of the Ashtabula. Mr. Montleon was employed by Ford Motor Co. as an electrician for 23 years in Green Island, N.Y., retiring in September 1987. He was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and a member of the American Legion of Lanesboro. He enjoyed woodworking. He leaves his wife, the former Margaret L. Clark, whom he married Dec. 19, 1948; four sons, Edward R. Montleon of Amherst, Joseph W. Montleon of Lakeville, Steven T. Montleon of Pittsfield and Charles R. Montleon of Farmingville, N.Y.; three daughters, Nancy L. Bourdon of Cheshire, Margaret M. Clampitt of Torrance, Calif., and Sally E. Croshier of Pittsfield; a sister, Evelyn Bartucci of Seaford, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A son, Robert J. Montleon, died May 16, 1996. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church. Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the American Cancer Society, both in care of the funeral home.
