Yvonne C. Herlihy

Yvonne C. Arnspiger Herlihy, 57, of 20 Myrtle Ave. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Great Falls, Mont., on Jan. 21, 1944, daughter of Edwin and Esther Rautio Haagenson, she attended schools in Belt, Mont. After her marriage on Nov. 2, 1963, to Miles M. Arnspiger Sr., who was serving in the Air Force, she traveled throughout the United States and Europe. In 1969, they moved to Lee where, in 1975, she started the Girls Softball League. Mr. Arnspiger died July 28, 1979. Mrs. Herlihy was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member and past president of its former St. Mary-St. Martha Sodality. She was also a Brownie, Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and gardening. Her husband, Edward J. Herlihy Jr., whom she married Oct. 22, 1982, died Jan. 7, 1996. She leaves two sons, James D. Arnspiger of Rainier, Ore., and Miles M. Arnspiger Jr. of Lee; four daughters, Violet E. Arnspiger of Phoenix, Christine M. Arnspiger of Lee, Theresa L. Arnspiger of Great Barrington and Annette C. Cook of St. Peter, Mo.; eight brothers, Edwin H. "Bud" Haagenson and Steven M. Haagenson, both of Lewiston, Mont., Virle F. Haagenson of Great Falls, Dennis R. Haagenson of Patterson, La., Issac R. Haagenson of Belt, Stanley M. Haagenson and Van W. "Butch" Haagenson, both of St. Helen's, Ore., and Philip M. Haagenson of Truman, Ark.; two sisters, Donna F. Sadler and Marlene K. Haagenson, both of Great Falls, and 15 grandchildren. Her twins, Christopher L. and Christine M. Arnspiger, died in 1970. Mrs. Herlihy leaves her grandchildren, Rachel, Miles III, Arron, Chelsi, Naomi, Joel, Abby, Katy and Jamie Arnspiger; Becca, Jennifer and Sarah Cook; James and Leticia Duryea, and Dylan Perusse. She also leaves her sons-in-law, Robert Cook and James Duryea, and daughters-in-law, Susan and Arletta Arnspiger. She was predeceased by a sister, Violet E. Arnspiger. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Laurel Lake Resident Activities Fund in care of the funeral home.
