Rita Rivers Czubryt, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rita Aldora Rivers Czubryt, 84, formerly of 11 Hermon Ave., died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown, where she had resided since March 19, 1998.
Born in North Adams on Sept. 11, 1918, daughter of Edward J. and Ida Lescarbeau Shartrand, she was a lifelong resident of North Adams and attended local schools.
Mrs. Czubryt was employed by Williams College for five years as a matron, retiring in 1981. She also worked for a total of 23 years at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. and at the former Greylock Mill.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church.
Her first husband, Laurence Rivers, is deceased. Her husband, Stephen A. Czubryt, also is deceased.
She leaves two brothers, Wilfred Shartrand of North Adams and Edward Shartrand of Pompano Beach, Fla.; a sister, Antoinette Whitmore of North Adams, and two grandchildren.
Her son, Robert E. Rivers, died Nov. 20, 1982, and two brothers, George and Henry Shartrand, also predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Czubryt will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 10 at Notre Dame Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Friends may call at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, on Wednesday from 9 until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or to a charity of the donor's choice, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
