Paul 'Fid' Haywood

Paul F. "Fid" Haywood Sr., 66, of Mill Street died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 17, 1934, son of Orin and Caroline Gillette Haywood, he attended local schools, including the former Searles High School. He moved from Housatonic to Lee in 1955. Mr. Haywood was employed by Mead Paper in South Lee, retiring in 1995. He was also a security guard at the Prime Outlets and was the former owner of Pippins Florist. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Lee and St. Vincent de Paul's Church in Lenox Dale. He was a member of the Adoration Society for Our Lady's Oratory at St. Mary's Church and was a past member of the Lee Lions Club. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling and watching the Boston Red Sox games. He leaves his wife, the former Rosalind Streeter, whom he married July 2, 1955; four sons, Paul F. Haywood Jr. of Vernon, Conn., and Robert H. Haywood, Anthony M. Haywood and Lincoln S. Haywood, all of Lee; three daughters, Susan L. Gore and Lisa C. Bowers, both of Lee, and Kathleen M. O'Brien of Lenox; a sister, Jane Quimby of Center Sandwich, N.H.; 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Haywood enjoyed spending much of his time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Friday at 9:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Friends wishing may make donations to the Food Pantry at St. George's Church in care of the Kelly Funeral Home.
