John E. Boucher

John E. Boucher, 67, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died Jan. 1 at North Bay Hospital in New Port Richey after suffering a heart attack. Born in North Adams on March 29, 1935, son of Emile and Florence Robillard Boucher, he graduated from Drury High School in 1953. He moved to Florida in 1991 from Pownal, Vt. He served in the Navy for two years in the early 1960s, including several months in Europe. In 1968, he was recalled to active duty in Vietnam while chief electrician with the 12th Mobile Construction Company, the Navy Reserve unit based in Pittsfield. During that time, he became the first Seabee reservist to hold the target-shooting record at the Navy's Gulfport, Miss., rifle range. Mr. Boucher was a certified meat cutter for A&P Supermarkets, retiring with 25 years of service. He was a member of Donald M. Michels Jr. Veterans of Foreign Wars 6180 in New Port Richey. He leaves a son, Scott Boucher of Wakefield; a brother, Lawrence Boucher of Pittsfield; two sisters, Denise Kent of North Adams and Sarah Andross of Pittsfield, and his companion, Clarice Rench. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A military service for John E. Boucher will be held Thursday, Jan. 16, in Bushnell, Fla. A memorial service will be held locally at Berkshire Chapel, Route 8, Berkshire, on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to Holy Ground, 8835 Denton Ave., Hudson, FL 34667. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. NATIONAL CREMATION SOCIETY in New Port Richey, Fla., handled arrangements.
