Helen Marion Santelli

Helen Marion Santelli, 76, of 23 Hermon Ave. died yesterday morning at home. Born in North Adams on Jan. 10, 1927, daughter of George A. and Emma Schabot DeMers , she attended the former St. Joseph's Grammar School. Primarily a homemaker, she had been employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. during World War II. She also had worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. Mrs. Santelli was a lifetime communicant of St. Francis' Church, where she served as a eucharistic minister. She was a member of Life-Right and enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking and gardening. Her husband, Arthur George "Wash" Santelli Sr., whom she married April 19, 1948, died March 9, 2001. She leaves two daughters, Theresa Lefebvre and Maryanne E. Santelli, both of North Adams; two sons, Mark C. Santelli of Woodford, Vt., and Joseph G. Santelli of North Adams; a sister, Mildred L. Conroy of North Adams; a brother, Joseph Carpenter of Stony Point, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Another son, Arthur G. Santelli Jr., died Oct. 24, 1993. FUNERAL HOME -- Services for Helen Marion DeMers Santelli will be Wednesday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for Life-Right or to the Berkshire Food Project through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Survivors include eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a son, Arthur G. Santelli Jr., on Oct. 24, 1993, and by two brothers, Edward and Harry Carpenter.
