Donald Edward Mayotte

Donald Edward Mayotte, 59, of 12 Kitchen Brook Park died Monday morning at Hillcrest Commons, where he had been a patient since Jan. 7. Born in Munising, Mich., on June 22, 1943, son of Violet Raymond Mayotte of Munising and the late Joseph Mayotte, he was a 1961 graduate of Mather High School in Munising. He had resided in Cheshire for 11 years, prior to which he had lived in Pittsfield. A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the Coast Guard from 1962 to1965 as a machinist's mate second class. Mr. Mayotte was employed by CompuWorks as a field service technician from Oct. 20, 1997, to April 26, 2002, retiring due to ill health. From 1985 to 1996, he was employed as a motor coach driver for Dufour Escorted Tours. He was a member of the Charles Persip American Legion Post 68. He enjoyed computers and outdoor photography. Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Colleen M. Murphy, whom he married April 30, 1994; two sons, Donald E. Mayotte and Kevin M. Mayotte, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Deanna M. Bigelow of Pittsfield; a sister, May Gail Haapala of Munising, and six grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Donald Edward Mayotte, who died Monday, Jan. 13, was predeceased by a brother, Gary Mayotte. He also leaves his former wife, Joan Kickery Mayotte. A memorial service for Mr. Mayotte will be held Friday, Jan. 17, at 1 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. William D. Furey, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising, Mich. There are no calling hours. A reception will follow the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Murphy, 34 Ocean St., Lanesboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Mayotte may be made to the American Cancer Society or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
