Russell T. Halliday

Russell T. Halliday, 74, of 40 Opechee St., died Wednesday afternoon at home after a long illness. Born in Cambridge on July 21, 1928, son of Gilbert E. and Ida Mowatt Halliday, he attended schools in Cambridge, including the Boston Latin School. He came to the Berkshires in the 1970s. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Halliday was most recently employed at the former West Shore Restaurant, retiring in the late 1980s. He was previously employed as a counselor for the Berkshire County Council on Alcoholism during the 1970s. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Dalton. He and his wife, the former Linda M. Zurrin, were married May 2, 1975. Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Ruth Ramsey of Arlington. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Russell T. Halliday, 74, died Jan. 22, 2003. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Harold Ramsey, and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 235 Dalton Division Road, Pittsfield. Burial will be at a later date and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Jehovah's Witnesses, Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department, or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is handling the arrangements.
