Violet M. Toelken

Violet M. Toelken, 91, of the Village at Laurel Lake, a former resident of Pine Road in East Otis, died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Springfield on April 4, 1911, daughter of Herbert E. and Violet A. Boyd Atwater, she attended schools there. She later moved to East Otis. Mrs. Toelken was employed by the Haynes Department Store in Springfield and as a waitress at the Knox Trail Inn in East Otis. She attended Otis Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in its Ladies' Guild. She also was a past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star in Ludlow. Her husband, Alfred E. Toelken, died Feb. 20, 1980. She leaves a stepson, Carl E. Toelken of Pinellas Park, Fla., and two stepgrandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Alfred Toelken, who died Dec. 6, 1998, and stepson, Donald Toelken. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Toelken is survived by her two stepgrandchildren, William Bostick and Joy Lynn Bostick. She was also predeceased by a stepson, Donald Toelken. Services will be held Friday at 11 at First Congregational Church in Lee. Burial will be in the spring in Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Friends wishing may make donations to the Lee Regional Visiting Nurse Association.
