Clara Belle Hoyt

Clara Belle Hoyt, 85, of 88 East St., died Monday at Great Barrington Healthcare. Born in Hudson, N.Y., on March 2, 1917, daughter of Reuben and Priscilla Saulpaugh Doolittle, she attended New York schools. She lived for a time in Copake Falls, N.Y., before moving to Mount Washington in 1941. Mrs. Hoyt was head housekeeper for the former Jug End Barn Resort in Egremont and also worked in the housekeeping department at the former Great Barrington Nursing Home, now Healthcare. She served as a library trustee in the 1980s Her husband, Sherman Hoyt, died in 1976. She leaves a nephew, Anthony Unetich of Orlando, Fla., and a close friend, James Whitbeck of Mount Washington. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services for Clara Belle Hoyt, who died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, will be in the spring in Mount Washington Cemetery at a time to be announced. There will be no calling hours. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Donations in Mrs. Hoyt's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mount Washington Rescue in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She leaves her nephew, Anthony Unetich of Orlando, Fla., and her friend, James Whitbeck of Mount Washington.
