Arthur Santelli

Arthur George "Wash" Santelli, 76, of 23 Hermon Ave., North Adams, died Friday March 9 at his home. He was born in Williamstown on Feb. 22, 1925, a son of the late Angelo Santelli Sr. and Antonia (Gralardi) Santelli. He attended schools in Williamstown, including the former Williamstown High School. He first was employed at the former Widen Tannery in North Adams as a maintenance ace welder for 48 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams, where he was in charge of the weekly church collections. He enjoyed gardening. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helen M. (DeMers) Santelli, whom he married April 19, 1948, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams; two daughters, Therese R. Lefebvre, of North Adams, and Maryanne E. Santelli, of North Adams; two sons, Mark C. Santelli, Woodford, Vt., and Joseph G. Santelli, of North Adams; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and one brother, Angelo Santelli Jr., of Williamstown. A son, Arthur George Santelli Jr. died Oct. 23, 1993, and a brother and three sisters predeceased him: Frank Santelli, Mary Marchio, Lena Davis and Angelina Girgenti. Funeral services will take place Tuesday morning at 10:15 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, are on Monday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for Right to Life through the funeral home.
