Henry Raymond Valenti

Henry Raymond Valenti, 76, of 930 Pirate Cove Lane, Vero Beach, Fla., formerly of North Adams, died yesterday at Hospice House of Vero Beach. Born in Springfield on April 11, 1926, son of Aldo and Lena Bernini Valenti, he attended schools in Stamford, Vt., and North Adams and graduated from Drury High School in 1944. He also attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. After retiring, he lived in Connecticut for a few years and later moved to Hudson, N.H., then to Florida in 1998. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the Army Air Corps following his high school graduation. Mr. Valenti was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. from 1951 until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, he was a consultant to the company. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. He enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime member of the North Adams Country Club. He also was a member of the Vero Beach and Nashua, N.H., country clubs and a former member of the Northern Berkshire Civitan Club, serving as president in 1964. His first wife, the former Barbara Broderick, whom he married June 25, 1949, died July 25, 1997. He leaves his wife, the former Kathy Hoff, whom he married Aug. 16, 1998; two daughters, Susan J. Wilk of Derry, N.H., and Laurie A. Lyeth of Rutland, Vt.; a son, Dr. James F. Valenti of Windham, N.H.; his wife's son and daughter, Paul Hoff and Lisa Hoff, both of Minneapolis, seven grandchildren and his wife's three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Henry Raymond Valenti will be Tuesday, March 4, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 8. Donations to VNA-Hospice of Indian River County or to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Edwin and Susan Wilk; a daughter, Laurie Lyeth; and a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James and Jean Valenti; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Andrew and Rebecca Valenti, Sarah and Christopher Wilk, Nicholas and Eric Lyeth; and his wife's children, Paul Hoff and his wife, Mary, and Lisa Hoff, and his wife's three grandchildren.
