William R. Senecal, 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — William Robert Senecal, 73, of 17 Bryant St. died Wednesday morning, Feb. 26, 2003, at home after a long illness.
Born in Rutland, Vt., on Jan. 22, 1930, son of William H. and Victoria M. Stomper Senecal, he attended schools in Middlebury and Pownal, Vt., where he moved at the age of 9. He moved to North Adams in 1952.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Senecal was employed as a school bus driver with Dufour Inc., retiring in October. He was employed at several automotive garages in Berkshire County for most of his life. Prior to that, he worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and at the former General Photo Co. in Williamstown.
He attended St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams and was a member of the Tunnel City Remote Control Flying Club. He was a Little League coach in the 1960s and a Boy Scout leader.
His first wife, the former Claire Elaine Schabot, whom he married Jan. 9, 1954, died June 22, 1993.
He leaves his wife, the former Verda Gilman, whom he married Oct. 12, 1996, in St. Mark's Episcopal Church; four sons, Wayne A. Senecal, Craig S. Senecal and Bryan D. Senecal, all of North Adams, and Russell W. Senecal of Clarksburg; a stepson, James Smith of North Adams; a sister, Jenny Mason of North Adams; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Walter J. Senecal.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Senecal will take place Saturday at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with the Rev. Michael McCue, rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
