Robert Romeo Frederick

Robert Romeo Frederick, 72, a longtime resident of Methuen, died Saturday at Fairview Commons, where he had resided since February 2001. He was the father of Marion Vanasse of Great Barrington. Born in Lawrence on April 26, 1930, son of Joseph R. and Gertrude Hathaway Frederick, he was educated in schools there. Mr. Frederick was employed as a manager in the product assurance department of Avco Systems of Textron Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1987. Upon his retirement, he was presented the company's X-Caliber award for highest outstanding accomplishments. A master fly fisherman, he owned and operated a fly-tying shop in Methuen and tied flies for Orvis Fly Fishing Co. His wife, the former Mary E. Hunter, died July 12, 2002. They were married 48 years. Besides his daughter, he leaves two sisters, Barbara Frederick of Peoria, Ariz., and Marion Foster of Tarpen Springs, Fla., and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Funeral Mass for Robert Romeo Frederick, 72, will be celebrated tomorrow, March 4, at 11 at St. Monica's Church in Methuen. Family and friends may call today, March 3, from 4 to 8 at JOHN BREEN MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 122 Amesbury St., Lawrence.
