Beatrice Rita Gattuso

Beatrice Rita Gattuso, 86, of 62 Foucher Ave. died yesterday morning at Williamstown Commons. Born in Adams on May 2, 1916, daughter of Philip E. and Euphemie Daoust Plante, she attended local schools. Mrs. Gattuso was employed by the former J.C. Penney store on Main Street, retiring in 1977. She also had worked at the former Loft Store in Williamstown as a salesclerk and at a Macy's Department Store in California as a floor manager. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and crewelwork. Her husband, Vincent Joseph Gattuso, whom she married June 9, 1934, died June 6, 1988. She leaves three daughters, Valerie King of Adams, Nancy Mancuso of Sherrillsford, N.C., and Maryanne Lavariere of Stamford, Vt.; seven grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Beatrice Rita Plante Gattuso will be Thursday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church, State Road, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for Our Lady of Mercy Building Fund through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Survivors include seven grandchildren, Scott King, Steven King, Kelly Markland, Jeffrey King, Anne Marie Craig, Terri Lockwood and Nicole Vigna, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and Edmond Plante.
