Evelyn I. Murphy, 80
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Evelyn Irene Murphy, 80, of 49 Willow Dell died early Thursday morning, March 6, 2003, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 23, 1922, daughter of Joseph and Martha A. Bugbee King, she attended local schools.
She was employed by the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown for 20 years, retiring in 1983. Prior to this, she worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 15 years.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo.
Her husband, William George Murphy Sr., whom she married Sept. 2, 1939, died Aug. 15, 1985.
She leaves a daughter, Ruth E. Trembley of North Adams; a son, William George Murphy Jr. of North Adams; six grandchildren, Bonnie Morris, Brenda Murphy and John Trembley of North Adams; Debbie Deeley and Pennie Bopp of Clarksburg, and James Murphy of Adams, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Another son, John Joseph Murphy, died July 28, 1996. Also, three brothers and a sister are deceased: Fred King, Wilfred King, William Duverney and Helen Scarbo.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside committal services and burial for Mrs. Murphy will take place in the springtime in the family lot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial donations may be made to the North Adams Ambulance Service in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
