Mildred M. Fields

Mildred M. Fields, 88, formerly of 567 South Main St., died yesterday morning at Craneville Place in Dalton. Born in Adams on April 10, 1914, daughter of William J. and Martha M. Brierly Kerr, she moved to Pittsfield as a young child and attended schools there. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Fields was employed for 22 years as an operator for Berkshire Communicators until her retirement in 1973. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a former communicant of St. Charles’ Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She also was a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. Her husband, Ralph J. Fields, whom she married Oct. 28, 1941, died Aug. 9, 2000. She leaves a son, Ralph W. Fields of Dalton; a sister, Edith Logan of Valatie, N.Y., and four grandchildren. Another son, Leonard J. Fields Sr., died July 30, 1987. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mildred M. Kerr Fields, 88, died March 17, 2003. She leaves her grandchildren, Leonard J. Fields Jr., Karla A. Procopio, Paul J. Procopio and Marc A. Procopio, and several nieces and nephews. She also was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Carnute-Fields. There will be no calling hours. The funeral will be Thursday at 8:15 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at Holy Family Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Church in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
