Nelson O. Bushaw

Nelson O. Bushaw, 75, of 44 Columbia St. died Sunday at home of an apparent heart attack. Born in Charlestown, Vt., on Jan. 1, 1926, son of Ora and Mae Sanborne Bushaw, he attended schools there. He joined the Navy on May 10, 1944, at the age of 18. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1946, with the rank of Serviceman Third Class. After his military service, Mr. Bushaw returned to Charlestown and was a self-employed logger and truck driver for three years. In 1949, he moved to Adams and was employed by the former Hooker Chemical Co. for 10 years. He was then employed by General Electric Co. as a foreman, retiring in 1989. He was a member of First Congregational Church and the North Adams Post 996 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He leaves two sons, Daniel Bushaw of Las Vegas and Nelson T. Bushaw of Vermont; a daughter, Sandra Morey of Adams; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Gerry Bushaw. Private services for Nelson O. Bushaw will take place Saturday, March 24, at 10 a.m. from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, Adams, with the Rev. John T. Carrick, pastor of the First Congregational Church in Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. There are no calling hours.
