Rose Nero

Rose Nero, 93, of Hudson, N.Y., recently of Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie, N.Y., died yesterday at Barnwell Nursing Home. She was the mother of Katherine Jane Torchia of Pittsfield. Born in Amorosi, Italy, on Jan. 3, 1908, she was the daughter of Pasquale and Maria Rapuano Tanzillo. Mrs. Nero was employed as a seamstress for several Columbia County garment factories, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Hudson, the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hudson and the Mount Carmel Ladies Sodality. She was also a member of the Hudson Golden Agers and the Hudson Whalers. Her husband, Mariano Nero, died in 1965. Besides her daughter of Pittsfield, she leaves three other daughters, Rose C. Lossi of Rensselaer, N.Y., Marie A. Sherman of Claverack, N.Y., and Patricia Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Angelo M. Nero of Valatie; a brother, Frank Tanzillo of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Anna Raymond of Linlithgo, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 17, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Hudson. Father Winston Bath will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be Friday, March 16, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at MCDONALD FUNERAL HOME INC., 886 Columbia St., Hudson, N.Y.
