Helen Lippman

Helen M. Lippman, 77, formerly of East Otis, died Wednesday at Fairview Hospital. She had resided at Great Barrington Nursing and Rehab Center for the past two years. Born in Bronx, N.Y., on Nov. 29, 1923, daughter of William and Mary Ann Ward Konkel, she attended schools there. She lived in East Otis from 1952 until 1976, and had resided in Westfield for several years before moving to Great Barrington. A homemaker, she worked part time at the East Otis General Store and as a waitress at the Knox Trail Inn. She was a member of the Otis Grange for many years and enjoyed collecting teddy bears and shopping. Her husband, Edwin C. Lippman, whom she married in 1946 in Brooklyn, N.Y., died in June 1976. She leaves a daughter, Lynda McMillian of West Otis; a son, Edwin M. Lippman of Huntington; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Donna Zabik, died in 1997. Beloved grandmother to Meredith, Frania, Shanon, Mary, Rob, Bernadette, Amber, Paul and Nicole; and great-grandmother to six, a great-grandson, Connor, died in 1996. A graveside service at the family plot in Otis Cemetery will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
