John C. White Jr.

John C. White Jr., 70, of Washington Township, Ohio, died March 8 at Dayton Hospice in Dayton, Ohio. Born in Stockbridge on Oct. 19, 1930, son of John C. White Sr. and Catherine Drake White, he attended Stockbridge Plain School and graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Pittsfield. He had resided in the Dayton area for 45 years. Mr. White was a teaching professional at the Community Golf Course in Dayton, head pro at Madden Park Golf Course, and head pro at Glengary Country Club in Toledo, Ohio. He served as an assistant pro during the winter months at Indian Creek Country Club in Surfside, Fla. He also worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Dayton for many years, retiring in 1997. He was a state junior champion and medalist in golf in Massachusetts. He leaves his wife of 21 years, Mary Ann White; three daughters, Kim Overberg and Jackie Swenson, both of Dayton, Valerie McMillin of Phoenix and two sons, Christopher White of Phoenix and Michael White of Omaha, Neb.; three stepdaughters, Carol Foley of Phoenix, Teri Masters of Severna Park, Md., and Kim Green of Olney, Md.; a stepson, Karl Swenson of Mary Esther, Fla.; a brother, William White of Palmer; two sisters, Peggy Anne White of Chicopee and Joyce McAllister of Dayton, and 14 grandchildren.
