Josephine Nigrelli

Josephine Rose Nigrelli, 95, of 16 Marcella Ave. died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on May 23, 1905, daughter of Santo and Josephine Spadaro Nigrelli, she attended local schools. Miss Nigrelli was employed by the former Eaton Paper Co. for 54 years as a floor lady in the printing department. She retired in 1976. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and had sung in its church choir. She was a member of the Massachusetts State Grange and the Heart of the Berkshires Grange 418. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 of Pittsfield and the Pittsfield Senior Center, where she was crowned queen one year. Miss Nigrelli enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, bowling and swimming. She leaves a brother, Joseph A. Nigrelli of Pittsfield, and two sisters, Jane C. Nigrelli and Mary G. Rollin, both of Pittsfield. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, CSS pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Mount Carmel Church Centennial Organ Fund in care of the funeral home. Miss Nigrelli is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
