Geraldine M. MacKinnon

Geraldine M. MacKinnon, 69, of 94 Stanton Ave. died Sunday evening at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 13, 1933, daughter of James and Grace Hammerton Layden, she was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She trained as an X-ray technician at the former St. Luke’s Hospital. Primarily a homemaker, she had worked for Dr. Christopher Mamonas until the late 1960s. Earlier, she had worked at the former St. Luke’s and Hillcrest hospitals. Mrs. MacKinnon was a communicant of St. Teresa’s Church and enjoyed gardening and doing crossword puzzles. She and her husband, Gordon C. MacKinnon, were married June 16, 1956, in St. Joseph’s Church. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Gordon J. MacKinnon of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Glen C. MacKinnon of Pittsfield; a sister, Gertrude Perkins of Pittsfield, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Geraldine M. Layden MacKinnon, 69, died June 8, 2003. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Teresa’s Church celebrated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Harter in November 1977 and her twin, Jacqueline Magri, in September 2000.
