Richard J. Mottarella

Richard J. Mottarella, 87, of 214 High St. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after suffering a heart attack at home. Born in Lee on May 7, 1916, son of Dominick and Mary Sitara Mottarella, he was educated in local schools and attended Lee High School. A stone mason, Mr. Mottarella worked for L.B. Corp. during the 1970s and ‘80s, and had previously worked for the Marian Fathers in Stockbridge. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He and his wife, the former Dorothy M. Ciullo, were married July 5, 1965. Besides his wife, he leaves four brothers, Victor Mottarella of Lompoc, Calif. and Remo J. Mottarella, Edward J. Mottarella and Peter J. Mottarella, all of Lee; and a sister, Mabel M. Hurley of Lee. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard J. Mottarella, who died June 17, 2003, will be Friday, June 20, at 9:15 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
