Charles Strong

Charles Minot Strong, 81, formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday in San Rafael, Calif. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 19, 1919, son of Henry Taft Strong and Isabella Liecty Strong, he attended local schools until his family moved. He graduated from Holderness High School in Plymouth, N.H. Mr. Strong served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. In his later years, he served in the Peace Corps. He is survived by a son, Robert Strong, of Leverett; two daughters, Elizabeth Barber of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Rosamond Strong of Telluride, Colo.; three sisters, Sally Straus of Ashfield, Rosamond Halle of Cambridge, and Isabel Strong of San Mateo, Calif., and five grandchildren.
