Velma G. Sage

Velma G. Sage, 85, of 152 South Mountain Road died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in East Haven, Conn., on Nov. 15, 1915, daughter of Anton and Daisy Knaub Schile, she graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven, Conn. She and her husband, William R. Sage, whom she married Nov. 21, 1938, moved to Pittsfield in 1940. Mrs. Sage was a member of South Congregational Church and its May Mattoon Society. She enjoyed swimming, yoga, downhill skiing and gardening. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, L. Sage Stetson of Sherman Oaks, Calif. There will be no calling hours. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
