Pauline M. Kelly

Pauline M. Kelly, 90, of St. Louis, a former resident of Great Barrington, died on Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. Born in Lee on April 19, 1913, daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Campbell Liston, she attended Lenox Dale schools and was a 1930 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School and a 1933 graduate of the former St. Luke's Hospital of Nursing in Pittsfield. She lived in Great Barrington from 1940 to 1972, when she moved to Tempe, Ariz. She moved to St. Louis in 1992. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Kelly worked at Fairview Hospital and did private duty nursing from 1933 to 1937. During the 1960s, she worked for a short time as postmistress for the town of Great Barrington. While in Great Barrington, she was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Democratic Town Committee and worked at polling stations during elections. She also did volunteer work for the Great Barrington VNA, especially during the blood drives, and was involved in Scouting. Her husband, J. Richard Kelly, whom she married Nov. 10, 1937, died June 21, 2001. She leaves a son, John R. Kelly Jr. of St. Louis; two daughters, Pauline K. Minogue and Maureen T. Wuestling, both of St. Louis; a brother, Charles J. Liston of Lenox Dale, and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Pauline Kelly will be celebrated today at St. Mary MagdalenChurch in Brentwood, Mo. Burial will be Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 at St. Peter's Cemetery in Great Barrington. Following the committal, a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale by the Rev. Daniel P. Liston, chancellor of the Diocese of Springfield and pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church in Northampton. Father Liston is the nephew and godson of Mrs. Kelly. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert W. Liston, and by two sisters, Mary Agnes Sullivan and Helen Fulker. KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee is in charge of arrangements.
