Emma P. Burdick

Emma P. Burdick, 98, of River Road in the Hoosac Tunnel section of town, died yesterday at North Adams Commons, where she had resided for a short time. Born in the Mountain Mills section of Wilmington, Vt., on Sept. 17, 1905, daughter of Antonio and Rosa Portigliati Pera, she was educated in Florida schools. Mrs. Burdick was a homemaker. She worked briefly as a young woman for the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. on Ashland Street in North Adams. Her husband, Charles Walter Burdick, whom she married June 23, 1924, at St. Anthony's Church in North Adams, died March 11, 1980. She leaves two daughters, Alice H. Meranti of North Adams and Mildred Hunkler of Drury; a son, Raymond W. Burdick of Florida; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Emma Pera Burdick will be Thursday at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested for Hospice of Northern Berkshire or the Florida Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. Survivors include nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mrs. Burdick was predeceased by her sister, Lena Leidi, and two brothers, Frank Sterni and Angelo Sterni.
