Leo A. Delmolino

Leo A. Delmolino, 91, of 187 East Road died Monday afternoon at Williamstown Commons. Born in Postalesio, Italy, on Aug. 30, 1912, son of Anthony and Mary Delmolino Delmolino, his family emigrated to the United States when he was one year old and settled in Cheshire. He attended schools in Cheshire and Adams and was a 1931 graduate of the former Adams High School, where he was captain and quarterback of the football team and earned a varsity letter in baseball. He also graduated from the former Bliss Business College. He had been a longtime resident of McKinley Street. Mr. Delmolino was employed with the former Arnold Print Works for 47 years, retirng in 1977 as a supervisor in the open stock/cut orders department. He also had worked for Colt Firearms Manufacturing Co. in Hartford, Conn., for a short time. He was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. He was a member of the Adams Lions Club, the Forest Park Country Club, where he was known for golf accomplishments, and the Lodge of Elks 1335, of which he was treasurer. He enjoyed traveling, fly fishing and a good cigar. His wife, the former Helen M. Doyle, whom he married June 25, 1938, in St. Thomas' Church, died July 8, 1992. He leaves a son, Donald L. Delmolino of Adams, with whom he had until recently resided; a brother, Reno Delmolino of Eustis, Fla., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Leo A. Delmolino will be offered Thursday, Sept. 25, at 10 at St. Thomas' Church. A prayer service will precede the Mass at 9:15 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 2-8 Liberty St. Calling hours will be Thursday from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Leo Club of Hoosac Valley, in care of the Guidance Department, Hoosac Valley High School, Route 116, Cheshire, MA 01255, or through the funeral home. He leaves his grandchildren, Lisa Marie Folino of Adams and Donato Delmolino of Pittsfield, and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Hannah Folino. He was predeceased by three sisters, Irma Bartini, Alma Smachetti and Dina Kneipfer.
