John Joseph Poirot Jr.

John Joseph Poirot Jr. 44 of 54 Jackson Rd. Savoy, MA, died Friday March 23, 2OOl at the North Adams Regional Hospital where he was admitted on March 20, 2001. Death followed a brief illness with cancer. He was born in North Adams, MA on June 8, 1956 a son of John Joseph Poirot Sr. and the late Jean Marie (Williamson) Poirot. The family resided in the Town of Florida, MA and he attended schools in the Town of Florida, MA. He also attended Charles H. McCann Vocational Technical High School in North Adams, MA, where he graduated from the automotive program with the class of 1974. He began his working career through the Cooperative Program at McCann High School. He was employed at the former Jack & Harry’s Automotive Company in North Adams, MA. He then was employed at K&M Motors in North Adams, MA and also at the former Grundy’s Garage in Williamstown, MA, and at McAndrews-King Pontiac-Buick in Adams, MA. In 1980 He became the owner and operator of Summer Street Automotive in Adams, MA, closing the business in 1988. He then obtained a position at New England Power Service in Westboro, MA where he serviced Nuclear Power Plants. In 1995 he joined Adams Plumbing & Heating as a welder until his death. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. He was a member of the Savoy Kanary Kats and the Sno-Drifters snowmobile Clubs. He also was a member of the New England Trail Riders Assoc. and hosted and raced in the Mohawk Enduro motor bike races. He also raced for several years in the Rock Maple Snow Cross Circuit for snowmobiles. He loved to restore street rods and high performance vehicles. Survivors include: Daughter: Shelby Kate Poirot of Adams, MA (1) Sister: Linda Lawton of Hudson, New York (1) Brother: Russell Louis Poirot of the Town of Floida, MA and his fiancee: Renee M. King of North Adams, MA, several aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews. (1) Brother: James Harry Poirot died December 24, 1984. Funeral services will take place Tuesday morning at 1l:OO A.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA. Burial will take place in the family plot in Church Cemetery in the Town of Florida, MA. in the sringtime. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home forFunerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA are Monday from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested Shelby Kate Poirot Education Fund through the Funeral Home.
