Regina Makarski Pothul

Regina Makarski Pothul, 91, of 35 Kirk St., Housatonic, died Saturday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Great Barrington on Nov. 13, 1911, daughter of Stanley and Rosalia Horonzy Kay, she was educated in local schools. She also had resided in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 20 years. A homemaker, she was a communicant of All Saints Church and a member of its Rosary Solidality, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and flowers. Her first husband, Anthony Makarski, died Dec. 11, 1964. Her husband, Alexander F. Pothul, died March 28, 1978. She leaves three sons, John Makarski of Great Barrington, Anthony Makarski of Housatonic and Robert Makarski of San Diego; a daughter, Loretta Wisinski of Shelton, Conn.; three brothers, Chester C. Kay of Housatonic, Edward J. Kay and Joseph M. Kay, both of Great Barrington; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Regina Gasperini, died Oct. 16, 1968. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral services for Regina Makarski Pothul, who died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, will be Friday, Sept. 26, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in All Saints Church by the Rev. Anthony Jutt, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Pothul was predeceased by a grandson, James Gasperini, in 1968. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
