Grace B. Denno

Grace B. Denno, 100, formerly of 4 Columbia St., Columbia Valley Housing, died Sunday morning at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided a short time. Born in North Adams on Sept. 4, 1903, daughter of Louis and Evelina Courtemanche Bedard, she attended the former Notre Dame Elementary School. She moved to Adams in the 1950s. Mrs. Denno was first employed at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill and later at the former Sprague Electric Co., both in North Adams, until her retirement. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. She also was a member of the Jollee Circle and the Adams Senior Citizens. She was active into her 80s, walking miles each day, playing cards, dancing at celebrations, conversing in French and assisting her neighbors at the senior housing. She had celebrated her 100th birthday with many members of her immediate and extended family. Her husband, Eli Denno, whom she married July 1, 1924, died July 19, 1949. She leaves two daughters, Jeannette Bourdon of Cheshire and Claire Gliwski of Adams; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Grace B. Denno will be Thursday at 11:30 at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:30 at Notre Dame Church, Adams, by Rev. Mark Burke, SJ, administrator of the Parish of St. Patrick and St. Raphael, Williamstown. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance Service or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital through the funeral home. She leaves her sons-in-law, Donald Bourdon and Walter Gliwski; two grandsons, Francis (Nancy) Bourdon and Robert Bourdon; three granddaughters, Nancy (Francis) Kruzel, Sister Gail Bourdon, SSJ, and Ann Ahles; two great-granddaughters, Paula (Randy) Morehouse and Simone Bourdon; five great-grandsons, Jeremiah Ahles, James (Julie) Bourdon, Mark (Jhody) Kruzel, Scott Kruzel and Philip Bourdon; five great-greatgrandchildren, Soleil and Savannagh Bourdon, Kyle and Savannah Morehouse and Ciarra Kruzel, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
