Barbara Ann Merrick

Barbara Ann Merrick, 63, of 1422 Massachusetts Ave. died Monday at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Poland, N.Y., on July 15, 1940, daughter of Harold and Mae Taft Goodney, she was a 1958 graduate of Poland Central High School. She also graduated from Utica College, University of Syracuse, in 1962. Mrs. Merrick was employed by Williamstown Medical Associates for several years, retiring in 1999 because of poor health. She also had worked as a licensed medical technologist at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital and for the Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, both in Utica, for several years. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Chapel, holding several officer positions. She also was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 487 and the Mount Greylock Odd Ladies' Club. Her husband, Joseph Donald Merrick, whom she married April 20, 1963, died Sept. 23, 1995. She leaves a daughter, Beverly Ann Merrick of North Adams; two sons, Douglas Allen Merrick and David L. Merrick, both of North Adams; two brothers, John Goodney and Donald Goodney, both of Oswego, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services to celebrate the life of Barbara Ann Goodney Merrick will take place Friday at 9 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Chapel, Massachusetts Avenue, Blackinton section. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Memorial donations are suggested for Shriners' Children's Hospital or to St. Andrew's Chapel through the funeral home. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Sandra and Mary Louise Goodney.
