Esther T. Keegan

Esther Teresa Keegan, 98, formerly of Rose Manor Apartments in Pittsfield, died Sunday at Curtis Manor Rest Home, where she had resided for eight years. Born in Leigh, England, on Aug. 24, 1902, daughter of Michael and Sarah Ryan Lynch, she attended schools in England and came to the United States in 1923. She resided in North Adams until 1935, when she moved to Pittsfield. Mrs. Keegan was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Her husband, John Henry Keegan, whom she married July 24, 1935, died Aug. 21, 1966. She leaves two daughters, Nancy Mackson of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Eileen Abbott of East Hartland, Conn.; a sister, Edith Kelly of Lancashire, England; six granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. A son, Daniel Keegan, died in 1987. The funeral will be Thursday at 8 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Agnes' Church celebrated by the Rev. John A. Koonz, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Agnes' Church or to Curtis Manor Rest Home, both in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Keegan was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Battersby of North Adams and Agnes Gibbons of England, and by four brothers, Arthur, Frank and James Lynch, all of North Adams, and John Lynch of England.
