Horace J. LaDouceur Sr., 82, of 29 Toronita Ave. died Friday, Oct. 10, at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since December 2002. Born in Easthampton on Dec. 3, 1920, son of Joseph F. and Eleanor Asselin LaDouceur, he attended schools there and was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a 1947 graduate of the former Berkshire Business College. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945. A leather worker, he was employed by the former Sheaffer-Eaton Textron Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1983. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. He enjoyed traveling, reading and fishing. He and his wife of 51 years, the former Nellie M. Piskorski, were married Dec. 1, 1951. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Horace J. "Buzz" LaDouceur Jr. and David F. LaDouceur, both of Pittsfield; a daughter, Sharon E. Hanson of Pittsfield; three grandsons and two great-grandsons. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Horace J. LaDouceur Sr., 82, who died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, will be lovingly missed by his three grandsons, Jeffrey Hanson of Austin, Texas, Jarrod Hanson of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Jonathan Hanson of Pittsfield, and great-grandsons, Gabriel and Miles Hanson of Austin; and his son-in-law, Jeffrey Hanson of Pittsfield. He was predeceased by five brothers and eight sisters. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit at Hillcrest Commons in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
