C. Bruce Nettleton

C. Bruce Nettleton, 59, of 5 Comstock Lane, Housatonic, died Monday at home after a battle with cancer. Born in New Haven, Conn., on Feb. 20, 1944, son of Reginald M. Nettleton of South Britain, Conn., and the late Thelma Palmer Nettleton, he was a 1962 graduate of South Glens Falls (N.Y.) High School. He also graduated from Adirondack Community College in 1964 and attended State University of New York at Albany. He moved to Housatonic in 1974 to work for Pioneer Credit. Mr. Nettleton had owned and operated C.B.N. Landscaping and Maintenance since 1979. He also had operated Nettleton Fur Co. with his father, and traveled throughout the Northeast and Canada. An avid skeet shooter, he was a member of the Massachusetts and national skeet shooters associations and competed in events throughout the Northeast. He also was a hunter and trapper, and a member of the National Rifle Association and the board of directors of the Sheffield Sportsman's Club. He and his wife, the former Lynn Knickerbocker, were married Aug. 20, 1966, in South Glens Falls. Besides his father and wife, he leaves a son, Christopher B. Nettleton of Lenox; two daughters, Laura Nettleton Dupontand Ellyn Nettleton Dupont, both of Housatonic; a brother, Barry Nettleton of Davisonville, Md.; five sisters, Patricia Jones of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Cheryl Dilley of Woodbury, Conn., Sandra Watkins of Stoney Point, N.Y., Gail Plude of Davisonville and Kimberly Nettleton of Bristol, Conn., and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for C. Bruce Nettleton, who died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, will be Friday, Nov. 21, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, MIC, pastor. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Housatonic. Family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 20, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in Mr. Nettleton's name may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. He leaves two grandchildren, Ashley Nettleton and Shaun Dupont.
