Edward Langevin, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Edward Langevin, 88, of 1 Nelson St. died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Pittsfield, N.H., on June 18, 1912, son of Peter and Alphonsine Frenette Langevin, he attended schools there.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, he obtained the rank of second lieutenant and participated in action at Peleliu and Okinawa.
Mr. Langevin was employed by the Chenail Farm in Williamstown for several years and later at the former Ralston Purina Grain Co. in North Adams. He was most recently employed by the Rochester Paper Co. in Adams, retiring in 1981.
His former wife, Shirley Mann Langevin, died Nov. 12, 1965.
He leaves his wife, the former Edith Walden, whom he married Aug. 14, 1970; two sons, Richard Edward Langevin of North Adams and James Langevin of Germany; a stepdaughter, Eileen Brassard of North Adams; three stepsons, William Hartman and Keith Hartman, both of North Adams, and Daniel Hartman of Dallas; a sister, Ourice Rothwell of Pittsfield, N.H.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a grandson, a granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters: James Larabee, Kathy Hartman, Oliver Langevin, William Langevin, Ora Foss and Olivine Perkins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Langevin will take place at a later date. Burial will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, at the convenience of the family.
