Mildred A. Dupuis

Mildred A. Dupuis, 89, of 28 Country Road died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Meriden, Conn., on May 18, 1914, daughter of Gustave and Edith Broman Oslund, she was a 1931 graduate of Meriden High School. She moved to Pittsfield in 1932 and to Hinsdale in 1983. Mrs. Dupuis assisted her late husband, Lucien C. Dupuis, in his business, L. Dupuis Moving Service, for 35 years. Before that, she was employed by GE in Pittsfield in the power transformer division. She was a longtime member of Morningside Baptist Church in Pittsfield, and of its Rachael Circle and Women's League. She also was a member of the Hinsdale Senior Citizens. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting every state except Alaska, and spent winters in Florida for 15 years. Her husband, whom she married Sept. 11, 1937, died July 5, 1992. She leaves three daughters, Susan Campbell and Sally Dupuis, both of Hinsdale, and Jill Pixley of West Stockbridge; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mildred A. Dupuis, who died Nov. 28, 2003, will be conducted tomorrow, Dec. 1, at 11 at Morningside Baptist Church by the Rev. Linda Shaw, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME will be today, Nov. 30, from 2 to 5. Among survivors are her grandchildren, Kim Sarmuk of East Berlin, Conn., Charles Stengl of Dalton, Steven Stengl of Pittsfield, Cynthia Tucker of Hinsdale, James Pixley of Dover, N.H., Susan Tarnawa of Great Barrington and Melissa Genovese of Hinsdale; her great-grandchildren, Casey and Robert Sarmuk, Ryan, Kevin, Whitney and Hanna Stengl, Lindsay, Scott, Mark and Wyatt Tucker, Stephanie Pixley, and Natasha and Emily Tarnawa; her sons-in-law, Vernon Campbell and William Pixley, and Sally's fiance, Robert Vieira; her grandchildren's spouses, Peter Sarmuk, Cheryl Stengl, Cynthia Stengl, Scott Tucker, Rosemary Pixley and Timothy Tarnawa; also many nieces and nephews. A brother, Harry Oslund, and a sister, Ethel Whelton, predeceased her. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggsted to the Morningside Baptist Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
