Daniel L. Ogert, 42, of 176 North Summer St. died Thursday in the emergency room of Berkshire Medical Center, where he had been admitted after suffering a heart attack at home. Born in North Adams on Dec. 9, 1960, son of Virginia Ann Beverly Ogert Schwarzer and the late Nelson Edward Ogert, he was a 1979 graduate of Drury High School. He served in the Army from April 1980 to March 1987 and was discharged as an E5. He served with U.S. forces during the Panama operation and in Germany. He had been attached to the HHC section of the 4th Battalion, 34th Armored Division. Mr. Ogert was employed by Hillcrest Educational Centers as a custodian at the time of his death. Before that, he worked at Hills Department Store in Lanesboro. He was a member of American Legion Post 160 and a former member of the DeMolay youth program for Masons. He and his wife, the former Marcia L. Sorrell McGovern Wilcox, celebrated their second anniversary Aug. 11. Besides his wife and mother, of Cheshire, he leaves two daughters, Karen and Aimee Ogert, both of Buxton, England; two stepsons, Peter McGovern and Robb Wilcox, both of Pittsfield; a brother, Nelson E. Ogert Jr. of Clarksburg; a sister, Kim M. Houle of Leominster, and seven step-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Daniel L. Ogert, who died Thursday, Nov. 27, will be conducted Tuesday at 2 at McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church of Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from noon to 2. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Ogert family at 176 North Summer St., Adams, MA 01220. Survivors include two stepdaughters-in-law, Melissa McGovern and Rebecca Wilsox, both of Pittsfield, and a niece, Marie Peckham of East Hartford, Conn.
