Chester B. Farmer

Chester B. Farmer, 55, of 21 Greylock St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Worcester on Jan. 28, 1948, son of Ralph and Sylvia Richards Farmer, he was raised in Douglas and was a 1965 graduate of Douglas High School. He also graduated from Husson College in Bangor, Maine, in 1970. He moved to Lee in the 1970s. Mr. Farmer owned and operated a taxidermy business in Lee. Before moving to Lee, he had worked in the restaurant business in various locations, including on Cape Cod. He was an active member of Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenox, where he taught Sunday school. He was a coach for the Lee Little League and for the basketball league, in which his children participated. He enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He and his wife, the former Elizabeth G. Haley, would have celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary Jan. 6. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James E. Farmer, at home; a daughter, Erica K. Farmer, at home; two brothers, Donald Farmer of Pocasset and Stuart, Fla., and Gordon Farmer of Whitinsville, and a sister, Diane Rutana of Marlboro. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Chester B. "Chet" Farmer, who died Dec. 6, 2003, will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 11 at Hope Advent Christian Church in Lenox by Dr. Douglas J. Foss, senior pastor. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours will be tomorrow, Dec. 9, from 4 to 7 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
