Jadwiga T. Ahola

Jadwiga T. Ahola, 88, of 90 Lime St. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Nov. 14, 1912, daughter of John Szurek and Tekla V. Rozek, she graduated from St. Stanislaus Kostka School and attended the former Adams High School. She graduated from Drury High School in 1962. Mrs. Ahola was first employed by the Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. and later by Sprague Electric Co. She was most recently employed by the Penney Department Store in North Adams, retiring in 1972. She enjoyed needlework. Her husband, Charles M. Ahola, whom she married Oct. 4, 1937, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, died Aug. 11, 1978. She leaves two sons, Charles M. Ahola of Adams and Robert Ahola of Schuylerville, N.Y.; a daughter, Judith Kimber of Wormit Fife, Scotland; a sister, Stephanie Kulpa of Adams; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Szurek. A Liturgy of Christian Burial is planned for Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, with the Rev. J.C. Chwalek, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday from 6 to 8 in the MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested by the family to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation in care of 275 Turnpike, Canton, MA 02021, or through the McBride Funeral Home.
