John C. Boomsma

John C. Boomsma, 80, of 620 Laurel St. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Newbury, England, on March 20, 1921, son of Jon and Ann Farnham Boomsma, he moved to Chester at the age of 3 and attended schools there. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After his military service, Mr. Boomsma moved to Becket and was employed in the lumber and hardware business. While in Becket, he built the Four B's Restaurant. In 1974, he moved to Florida, where he also worked in the lumber and hardware business at various locations. He moved to Lenox in 1994 and was a resident of the Laurel Lake Center for the past two years. His wife, the former Beatrice Shea, died April 15, 1995. He leaves a son, David C. Boomsma Sr. of Becket; a sister, May McClure of Northampton; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, John E. Boomsma. Mr. Boomsma leaves his three grandchildren, Lisa Fisher, and David and Derek Boomsma, and four great-grandchildren, Brian Brennan, Nicholas Mange, Dana Lynne Boomsma and Makayla Boomsma. He also leaves his devoted daughter-in-law, Johanne Boomsma. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in charge of arrangements.
