Beverly Ann Carpenter

Beverly Ann Carpenter, 65, of Mount Vernon, Ind., formerly of Pittsfield, died March 22 at her winter home in Haines City, Fla. Born Oct. 31, 1935, in Crossville, Ill., daughter of Cyril J. and Lucille Spencer Lamar, she was a 1953 graduate of Crossville High School and a 1957 graduate of Southern Illinois University. She received her master's degree in 1967 from Evansville College, now the University of Evansville. She moved to Pittsfield in 1969, when her husband, Welby R. Carpenter, was transferred to the GE plant here. They lived in the area for more than a decade. Mrs. Carpenter taught school at the secondary level for several years in Crossville, Albion, Ill., and Mount Vernon, Ind. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Western Hills Country Club, both in Mount Vernon, and the Evansville ACBL Bridge League. She was an active golfer. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Kimberly Shelton of Centreville, Va., and two grandchildren.
