Mary E. Gore

Mary E. Gore, 84, formerly of 105 Livingston Ave., died yesterday morning at Springside of Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on July 29, 1916, daughter of John and Helen Kretchmer Gore, she was educated in local schools. An artist, she studied with William Schultz and Leo Blake. Miss Gore was employed during World War II by GE, where she worked on gun detector sights in the ordnance department. In the 1960s, she taught children's art classes at the Berkshire Museum and private art classes to children and adults in her home. A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, she was a member of its Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Pittsfield Art League and exhibited her art at local shows and the Albany (N.Y.) Art Museum. She leaves her sister-in-law, Margaret E. Gore of Pittsfield, who provided for her care. She was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel B. Gore and John "Herbie" Gore. She is survived by her godchildren, Maryjane Scoco, Joshua Baker and Charles Vallone. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Sunday from 3 to 6. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
